Byway Logo Featured in Explore Minnesota Ads

The Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway logo was chosen to be the featured byway logo on the new ‘More to Explore’ TV spots created by Explore Minnesota Tourism. The Paul Bunyan logo, sporting a close-up of an axe-carrying Paul alongside his trusty sidekick, Babe, the Blue Ox, was selected from among twenty two other Minnesota byway logos.

Appearing within the first 15 seconds of the sixty second ad, the Byway logo sits in the foreground affixed to a signpost. Bob Ehrler of Explore Minnesota Tourism’s advertising noted, “The Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway logo was a good tie-in visually with this part of the ad.”

The “More to Explore” campaign emphasizes the wide diversity of activities in Minnesota that appeal to travelers. The campaign’s TV spots feature cameo appearances by Twins baseball player Joe Mauer, Minneapolis indie band Solid Gold and other Minnesotans as they sing about all there is to see and do in the state. The campaign’s playful graphics, a catchy tune, and quick sketches of Minnesota activities–from canoeing to the arts-convey the message that “There’s more to explore in Minnesota.”

The TV ads, which are currently airing, will run through mid-June in the Minneapolis-St. Paul, Milwaukee, Madison, Des Moines, and Cedar Rapids areas. The ads will also run in the Alexandria, Duluth, Fargo, Mankato and Rochester areas, and during televised broadcasts of Twins games. The television advertising is supplemented by online and email marketing in the upper Midwest, including ads on websites such as Trip Advisor.
