Byway Minutes Are Coming

Beginning in May, KLKS radio will begin airing informational spots about the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway. The spots will include the new Byway jingle, performed by members of the SKATYRS band, and will be sponsored by a collection of area businesses including, North Wedge Greenhouse, Bait Box Marina, Wildwedge Golf and Mini-Golf, Black Pine Beach Resort and Breezy Point Resort dining.

Listeners can look forward to learning more about the many Byway activities and projects, including the following:

  • A 2009 summer geocaching event known as Paul and Babe’s GeoHunt

  • Paul Bunyan footprints project at seven local jurisdictions

  • Interpretive panel stories including the legend of the disappearance of logger, Timothy Burr. He’s still called for today by every logger, “Tim Brrrr!”

  • The world’s largest Paul Bunyan rag doll

  • The Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Exhibit Room

  • A new 20 page Byway Tour Brochure

  • Byway webisode and podcasts

  • Master Gardeners and their work at selected Byway kiosks

Byway Minutes will be recorded by various voices from the Byway area. If you would like to be one of the radio voices for the Byway Minute, contact Byway Association chair, Lynn Scharenbroich, at 543-4714.
