Raffle Raises Nearly $20,000

$49,999.99 PBSBA Raffle Exempt Permit X-34294-03-001

Odds at 1 in 30 and over a hundred prizes that included such big ticket items as an SUV, a pickup truck and a boat, motor and trailer, were enough to motivate eager ticket buyers to buy every available ticket even before the festivities began at the American Legion in Pequot Lakes on Saturday, September 13.

The Raffle was designed to function as the Byway Associationís major fund raiser for the completion of the Veteranís Hiking Trail work, and it did just that. At the November 13, 2003, Annual Meeting, Raffle Committee treasurer, Steve Bengtson, reported that after expenses, the Raffle brought in nearly $20,000.

The PBSBA Board will seek grant opportunities to leverage these dollars.

The success of the Raffle was due to the efforts of the Raffle Committee, PBSBA Board, Association members, the Pequot Lakes American Legion, ticket sellers and partners, and the support of the Byway area communities. Thank you!

And, just as all helped, all will benefit as the Veterans Hiking Trail becomes an ever more well-known, well used and heralded area amenity.
