"...In the early spring of 2017, the DNR indicated possible interest in selling the fire tower due to increasing cost of maintenance and vandalism. A decision was made not to reopen the tower later in the spring, and the DNR is open to another entity taking over the tower, though at this point they are merely looking into options.

The tower recently was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The tower has been on the National Historic Lookout Register since 1993. Other notable towers are located at the Badoura State Tree Nursery and at Nimrod...."   Read the news article here.
