Byway Honoree of 2011

The Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association’s annual celebration event at Marina II on November 9 provided not only a fun and informative evening for the over seventy attendees, but also a forum for highlighting accomplishments and honoring supporters.

Each year the PBSBA annual meeting committee identifies one particularly significant supporter. The honoree selected for 2011 is KLKS Radio. Over the years, KLKS has supported a wide range of Byway Association projects. The most recent was a project started last November in partnership with Eagle View Elementary School, that had art students illustrating the PBSBA’s holiday classic poem, ‘No Ox Can Fly’. A recording of the poem was aired on the radio, the illustrations were posted on the KLKS website and the winning classroom had a chance to visit the KLKS studios and sit in on a live broadcast session with radio personality, Bob Bundgaard. The project was coordinated with the PBSBA and Eagle View School by Marj Bundgaard.

Board member, Linda Ulland, introduced KLKS as the 2011 honoree and presented a plaque to station representative, Bob Bundgaard. The plaque listed the many Byway projects that have been supported by KLKS, from live coverage of the Association’s national designation event in 2006 to recording of a Byway jingle to the popular Byway Minutes that have been aired during the summer for the past three years.

“KLKS has been an enthusiastic and significant supporter for such a wide range of Byway projects,” said PBSBA chair Lynn Scharenbroich. “We’re so grateful for their partnership.”
